Save an image on the computer hard drive. In the format bar (icons between the title and content boxes) select the icon for ‘Upload/Insert’, choose From Computer, select files, find the image wherever it is saved on the Hard Drive. This will upload the image.
On the main dashboard of wordpress, select page from the left hand side of the page. Add new, then create a title for your page in title box, insert content into content box, and select Parent if the page is to be a child page otherwise leave blank.
Most websites are made of pages and posts. Posts are categorized eg overall heading with sub headings eg Footwear as the heading and Shoes/Boots as the sub heading. If posts are uncategorized, they could end up anywhere on the site. Pages do not necessarily need to be categorized. If they are, they become Parent and Child eg Shoes as the Parent, Heels/Sandal/Boots would be the Child Pages. There are also grandchild pages which are sub areas of the child pages eg Heels as the child page and Stilettos/Wedges as grandchild pages.
Common widgets are ‘Recent Posts’, ’Recent Comments’, ‘Categories’ etc. They can be renamed. RSS Feed shows up to date activity on the site. ‘Search’ will provide a search bar on the site. ‘Tag Cloud’ will provide a selection of relevant tags.
Once all the relevant pages and posts have been created, go to the main Dashboard and on the left select ‘Appearances’ and then choose ‘Menu’. On the top right, type the menu name as Main Menu and select ‘Create Menu’.
On the dashboard, go to ‘Settings’ and choose ‘General’. Fill in the Site title and tag line with a relevant SEO Title in Site title and sub title in Tag line. These will appear in the blue bar at the very top of the website screen and as the heading and sub heading if the website Homepage.
On the main Dashboard, go to ‘Plugins’ on the left and add new. In the search bar, type ‘Simple Coming Soon’ and search. Select the First plugin called ‘Simple "Coming soon" And "Under construction"’ and select Install now. Once installed, activate plugin by selecting the ‘Activate Plugin Button on the installation confirmation page.
