Search Engine Optimisation or (SEO) is an ongoing process but as with most things there are some fundamentals that should be in place right at the start, we endeavour to make all of our websites “search engine friendly” and ensure that all of our clients understand the difference between On Page SEO & Off Page SEO, one without the other can be effective but both together (done properly) will make your website a success.
There are two main factors to SEO
1) How the search engines interpret the information on your page (On Page)
2) The search engines perception of your websites authority & reputation (Off Page)
On Page SEO
We advise our clients to ensure that their website is formatted in the correct way before embarking on an “Off page” campaign in effect putting the horse before the cart. We ensure that the website content contains a good balance of searchable keywords amongst the content, so when Googles’ spiders analyse your page they understand what searches you should be ranked under.
We would then submit the website to the search engines with a sitemap which would tell them which pages are of most importance and where on your website they are. Google looks at your website in the fraction of a second so it’s imperative that you make the site as accessible to its process as possible.
Off Page SEO
Google and the other search engines also build a “Trust flow” based on the reputation of your website from other reputable sources including but not exclusive to Social Media, Blogs, Articles, Directories & 3rd Party Reviews. This trust flow amongst other off page factors helps Google determine the authority of your website over your competitors, the higher your websites authority & trust flow the higher you rank.
CAUTION: Don’t fall into the trap of linking from any and everywhere, if low authority sites are linking to you they will reduce the authority of your website, this is called the “Citation flow”. Only accept links to your site from reputable well established websites and your indexed position will improve.
